October 23-25 in Beijing, China

On October 23-25, 2020, the conference proceeded as scheduled at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications Science and Technology Hotel. The event spanned two days, including one day for registration and one day for the actual conference. The total number of participants, both domestic and international, reached 100, with 2 foreign experts from Ain Shams University in Egypt and Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen).

The conference featured 6 invited keynote speakers from both domestic and international institutions, covering topics related to the application of artificial intelligence and computer technology in smart city ecosystems, the Internet of Things (IoT), edge computing, blockchain, facial recognition, medical image processing, intelligent education, and more. Among the speakers was Professor Jia Weijia, Vice President of the Sino-Foreign Joint International College of Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University, who presented a keynote on "AI and Edge Computing for Smart City Eco-System," providing a detailed overview of the applications of artificial intelligence and edge computing in smart city ecosystems. Professor Dai Wanyang from Nanjing University delivered a talk on "Internet of Blockchains with Federated Learning and Generalized Stochastic Polling Game," showcasing the evolution of the currently deployed Industrial Internet through (quantum) blockchain (IoB) interconnection.

Other presentations included Professor Wang Wenfeng from Shanghai University of Applied Technology, who shared research on improving the recognition rate and reducing the runtime of occlusion face recognition, titled "Improving Robustness and Time Efficiency with Weight Function in Occlusion Face Recognition." Professor Li Zuoyong from Minjiang University discussed medical image processing based on sparse representation and deep learning in his presentation titled "Medical image processing based on sparse representation and deep learning." Philippe Fournier-Viger from Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) proposed a dynamic strategy distributed control architecture for the power Internet of Things to ensure the security of power production. Additionally, Professor Abdel-Badeeh M. Salem from Ain Shams University in Egypt presented a keynote on knowledge engineering paradigms in intelligent education, covering methods, applications, and challenges.

The conference, themed around artificial intelligence and engineering applications, attracted experts and scholars from over 10 provinces across the country. With strong support from invited guests, the conference successfully secured a special issue in an SCI journal, CI-Computing and Informatics (Impact Factor: 0.496/Q4), providing an opportunity for the publication of excellent papers. The event focused on the hot topics of artificial intelligence and the application of computer technology in smart cities, education, healthcare, economics, power, and other fields.

Various forms of compact yet rich lectures, presentations, discussions, and demonstrations were conducted during the conference. A total of 91 manuscripts were accepted from institutions such as Beijing Institute of Technology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the University of Nottingham in the UK, the University of Manchester in the UK, South China University of Technology, and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. These manuscripts will be published in the proceedings of the international conference.

The conference showcased the forefront of research in artificial intelligence in recent years and the application of computer technology in various industrial scenarios. It served as an international platform for experts, professors, scholars, and engineers from domestic and international universities, research institutes, and enterprises to share professional experiences, expand professional networks, face-to-face exchange new ideas, and showcase research results. The conference addressed critical challenges and research directions in the field of artificial intelligence and engineering applications, aiming to promote the development and application of theories and technologies in academia and industry.

This conference greatly contributed to the deep integration of computer science and medicine, facilitating the interdisciplinary collaboration and advancement of both fields. It played a significant role in promoting medical development and engineering construction and provided an excellent opportunity for participants to establish professional connections and seek global partners for future endeavors.
